AEHA 2021 Symposium: 'The ethics of COVID-19 vaccination – from discovery to distribution'

The Australian Ethical Health Alliance invites you to join a sector-wide symposium on the topic: 'The ethics of COVID-19 vaccination – from discovery to distribution' from 12pm–1.30pm AEST on 19 July 2021.

The symposium was originally planned to be held as a hybrid meeting, but will now proceed as an online event only.

  • Register for virtual attendance: Zoom registration. Following registration, you will be emailed a unique URL, which will provide you with access to the symposium.

The symposium will feature renowned health and ethical experts including:

  • Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah (Moderator) – infectious disease specialist and general physician at Alfred Health, and an advocate for doctors throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Professor Catherine Bennett – Deakin University’s Chair in Epidemiology, with over 20 years of research expertise in infectious disease epidemiology and community transmission.

  • Adjunct Professor (UNSW) Bill Bowtell – Bill is a strategic policy adviser, with particular interest in national and international health policy structures and reform.

  • Ms Alison Choy Flannigan and Mr Karl Rozenbergs (co-presenters) – Alison is a partner and leader at Hall and Wilcox lawyers. Alison leads the firm's health and community industry group, having specialised in advising clients in the health, aged care, disability, life sciences and community sectors. Karl Rozenbergs is also a partner at Hall and Wilcox lawyers. Karl is the section leader in the firm's employment and workplace relations team.

The Symposium will include our guest speaker presentations and 40 minutes of open discussion between the audience and all panellists. It is planned that the symposium will be a highly interactive event.

The symposium, with a particular focus on the ethics of vaccination, will be valuable during this time, as the practice of highly ethical standards and behaviours will continue to be particularly important to the healthcare sector in coming months and post COVID-19.

Should you have any questions regarding the symposium, please contact AEHA Project Officer via info@ethicalhealth.org.au

We look forward to what I'm sure will be insightful discussions on ethics with all areas of the healthcare community. We hope you can join us.
